Taking a T2 Keep Empty
PostSubject: Taking a T2 Keep   Taking a T2 Keep Icon_minitimeThu Oct 23, 2008 5:11 pm

Overview
This post outlines how to take a Tier Two Keep with the tactics that Karn Aanug employ. This post is not theorycraft - it has been successfully executed "in the wild" with the main tank being Ymgarl. Henceforth, I shall refer to it as the "Stonebeard Manouvre".

Peforming the Stonebeard
1. Do not take any objectives - this warns the enemy of our intentions
2. Muster at the Warcamp then prcoeed to the Keep once ready
3. Kill all mobs leading up to the keep
4. Lower level characters (sub-L15) should man the battering ram and/or any other siege engines
5. All else target the gate and go full DPS
6. As soon as the gate is open, all into the lower hall
7. Muster up at the top of the first ramp (on the flat piece before the ramp up to the Keep Lord)
8. Main Tanks charges in to take aggro
9. A couple of seconds later the rest of the warband charge in to the room
10. The warband then proceeds up the next ramp but NOT up the ramp to the Reknown Merchants - instead they go straight on to the balcony above the Keep Lord room
11. Once the bulk have gone, the Main Tank joins everyone
12. Healers heal up/rez everyone and buffs are deployed
13. Main Tank enters the fray against the Keep Lord
14. Healers target and maintain the Main Tanks' health
15. After a minute or two to establish aggro, all DPS open up on the Keep Lord only

... and thats it! As soon as the Keep Lord drops, the other guards will despawn and all is done but the loot rolls!

Points of Failure
There are some points of failure in the Stonebeard - should people step out of line...

- Running up to the Reknown Merchants in Point 10... we don't go there!
- Running outside onto the battlements at Point 10... we don't go there!
- Releasing before Point 12 if you die between 7-11 will weaken the warband. Don't do it.

Benefits
This is a lightning strike. It can take a keep before Destruction can pull a resonable force together to retake it. It is eminently suitable to the war we are facing - outnumbered (but never outgunned!)

Hope this gives some people an insight into taking a keep!

And now proven that you can Stonebeard a T3 Keep just as effectively.
