size difference it turns actully won't make that much of a difference in a recent interview on TTH tasos stated that melee combat is a bit more simplistic now, they tried to add directional swings but due to latency they dropped it. Now its a wierd manual-auto attack, let me expalin: you aim your crosshair on the player and hit attack and then IF you are in range you hit unless he parries or blocks you, its seems to me its a cross between FPS style and AoC.

Aventurine: Swings are currently random but blocking/parrying is not. We also have directional damage so you want to avoid being hit in the back.

Directional swinging is a feature we’ve done a lot of testing on and we’ve found that it’s tricky to get right and make fair due to internet latency. We are continuously evaluating this though and have come up with a way to implement an overhead directional swing in time for the launch of the game."

Ill Be playing one of two setups,

If Dual Wielding is present in the game then
A Mirdain specializing in ranged attacks, defensive spellcasting and dual wielding some of the faster weapons, with some improved stealth skills and light armour, will likely have Hunting and Fletching as some tradeskills to repair on the go and not have to visit citys often

Or a Mahirim With Heavy Armour (as the armour will give a much smaller effect compared to other races) Main Hand/Shield Combo with Offensive spellcasting and Blacksmithing/Mining as tradeskills.

one question, Regarding tradeskills, how do they work?
Do you actively have all tradeskills at the start of the game and have to improve them or will there be a limit on the amount of tradeskills a player is allowed like Wow

Seems like we got a majority wanting to play orcs or Mahirim. Personally, I think I might go for a reaver-style orc. Speed, Toughness, Damage.

Nice Hal i can see it now, building our ship and traveling the ocean pillaging helpless traders

...and hear the lamentation of their women (after we properly ravage them, of course).

im going to do same... i love to be in front line ....

I think Mahirim will be the best choice for a reaver type class, they are one of the better melee classes with less weaknesses and the high movement speed will provide good hit and run tactics

i am going MAHIRIM ( going for a range build)

I just want beta acess to choose my race im sure it will be dark , but Orc or Mahirim .. will see

We could organise around a basic class outline (as we know it works from lotro, no?) with
Stalker - Stealth/Stun tactics
Reaver - Toughness/Damage
Warleader - Toughness/Healing
Blackarrow - Toughness/Ranged
Shaman - Witchcraft/Healing schools
Weaver - Professional Gimp?

Just a suggestion, would be interesting

Yeah that way it would avoid confusion of...

"Im a range DPS Hybrid What about you"
"Im a Melee DPS Hybrid"

I can see this game becoming even more confusing

I like to take dualwhiled / or sword and shield... will see what will be better i wanna continue in reavers style ..
